Dee Burger

Capgemini Consulting kicked off the week with the news that its new North American CEO is longtime company executive Dee Burger.

Capgemini Consulting is the global strategy and consulting arm of $11.5 billion Capgemini Group, which is No. 5 on CRN's Solution Provider 500 list.

Burger has been with Capgemini for more than 12 years, most recently as global sector lead for the company's telecom, media and entertainment practice. He replaces former CEO Ken Toombs.

In his new role, Burger will be responsible for driving the company's consulting vision around digital transformation, through which Capgemini looks to help clients transform and grow their businesses with digital technology products, services and business practices. In February of last year, Capgemini Consulting focused its efforts on this area with the consolidation of its digital assets and capabilities under a single services line called Digital Customer Experience.

"Helping out clients to understand and act upon the opportunities and threats created by the escalating advancement of new technologies is critical to our mission," Burger said in a statement. "I'm excited to capitalize on Capgemini's capabilities to help our clients grow."

Recently, Capgemini has been backing its digital transformation push with key executive appointments, including the appointment of Cyril Garcia as Capgemini Consulting CEO and Fernando Alvarez as global chief digital officer last month.

Garcia said in a statement that he believes Burger, with his extensive industry experience, is the right fit for driving the company's digital transformation agenda.

"Groundbreaking digital transformation initiatives require both innovative strategies and unique approaches to attain the highest business value," Garcia said in a statement about Burger's appointment. "Dee's proven leadership skills and experience leading digital projects in multiple industries will help propel our business, and that of our clients."

Burger assumed the role in January, according to his LinkedIn profile, and reports to Garcia.

Burger brings more than 22 years of experience to his new role. As global sector lead for telecom, media and entertainment, his most recent role, Burger was recognized for developing Capgemini's Communication Transformation Platform, which the company says is the driving factor behind its growth in the telecom market.

Before Capgemini, Burger was principal of Gemini Consulting as well as vice president in Ernst & Young's telecommunications practice.
