ConnectWise To Release Platform Update 2015.3 On Thursday

ConnectWise is releasing a new update to its business management platform on Thursday.

One of the biggest features of the new version, ConnectWise 2015.3, is the new Projects Module being brought to the browser. Prior to this version, the feature had to be accessed through the client, but now it can complete updates and mass actions from the project work plan. By the Projects Module being part of the browser, users can access it from anywhere.

The company said the new features and enhancements have, for the most part, come at the request of partners to appease their needs.

"One of the biggest requests we got from our partners around what we did with Projects was they just wanted it to be easier to use and be a lot simpler with a lot less clicks," said April Taylor, ConnectWise senior product manager. "We’re really big on incorporating partner feedback into all of our releases, so we heard that loud and clear. That’s a lot of what we did with this update to Projects. We gave them the ability to make a lot of the normal updates they make from one key screen, which is the work plan. They don’t have to drill in a lot more."

Other new features to the ConnectWise update include enhancements to the Dispatch Portal and My Calendar, allowing users to manage their teams from a scheduling perspective. Users will notice a new look interface, as well, with different icons and color schemes from the prior version of the platform.

In addition, ConnectWise added Voice To Text in its new dashboard, allowing users to capture notes from verbal cues. The company also added a bar-code-scanning feature in its mobile app, ConnectWise Mobile, where on-site workers can scan bar codes to certify a serial number when needed.

"We’re really excited to get this out to our partners," said Taylor. "There are a lot of enhancements and a lot of improvements that we’ve made with 2015.3 that have been highly requested from our partners."

ConnectWise typically releases a new update to its platform twice per quarter, and this is the first update since late January.

"We are pumped about the project update on the Project Module," said Jeremy Jackson, president and CEO of BWS Technologies, a Prattville, Ala.-based ConnectWise partner.

"That is the biggest takeaway that we have from this update. The integration of the project … as a web interface is huge for us. Given that they are operating on web platforms, it is more flexible for us on our Mac platforms. The changes they have made in the web interface, as well as the Internet-connected client, have allowed us to transition our work. They have done a great job with their updates where we can do mass updates to our projects. The 2015.2 update prior wasn't as efficient, as everything you did required multiple steps when it came to adding team members. Now it’s brought to the front and you can select everyone as a team, and it’s much more efficient."
