Intelisys Partners Look Forward To Sharpening Tools At Mindshare Event

Partners of Intelisys are looking forward to the Petaluma, Calif.-based telecom distributor’s Northeast Mindshare events in Boston next week.

On Tuesday, April 28, Intelisys will host more than 125 partners and more than 20 vendors at its Mindshare event at the Venezia. There, the company will hold roundtable discussions and panels to discuss cloud strategies and opportunities as well as other emerging technologies including data center, connectivity and more.

Partners say they look forward to networking, learning from their counterparts in the industry and learning more about emerging technologies, but some say what they look forward to most is the keynote from Andrew Pryfogle, Intelisys senior vice president and general manager of cloud services.

"Andrew Pryfogle is a wonderful speaker," said Tim Kennedy, vice president of carrier services at Carousel Industries, an Exeter, R.I.-based Intelisys partner. "He has been instrumental and helping us talk to our customers in talking about cloud. I look forward to his talk the most in terms of the entire event."

Kennedy said Intelisys telecommunications products and services make up about 60 percent of his division's business. He credits these Mindshare events with helping him become better at his craft and helping members of his team learn more about available technologies.

"It’s one of the top two to three events I go to each year," Kennedy said. "It allows myself and our team to sharpen our axes. Every year I come away inspired. The educational spaces we attend allow us to learn more about cloud as well as network, and benchmark our practices against [those of] our peers. The educational component is fantastic, and networking is the other big benefit. Just talking to other peers stirs new thinking and energizes my sales battery."

There are two panels on cloud and network infrastructure scheduled. Vendors slated to attend the roundtable discussions include Level 3, Comcast Business and Broadview Networks -- plus more than 20 others.

Partners said they are eager to learn business strategies from the panels.

"We try to attend as many of the Mindshares as we can," said Angie Tocco, co-founder of LanYap Networks, a Phoenix-based Intelysis partner. "We always get a different take of what is working and what’s not in certain areas with potential carriers. Since there are so many in the portfolio, it is always good to get a peek at the carriers in a more intimate setting."

Tocco says Intelisys makes up about 90 percent of her company’s business, and it’s billing at about $1 million a month. She says she decided to partner with Intelisys four years ago in order to gain access to more carriers and not be tied down to a contract with just one.

"As a small-business owner, working with a company like Intelisys gives us a larger footprint than we already have," she said. "I think they are trying to constantly reinvent themselves when it comes to cloud as it continues to morph. As they continue to grow and add different classes to cloud education, it is always good for us to stay in the know. I’m excited to go. Boston is a great city. It will be really good to get to know some of the local partners as well."
