CRN Channel Madness Round 2: Big Leads Get Bigger

The second weekend of the 2016 CRN Channel Madness Tournament of Chiefs is in the books. Let's take a look at the how the Solutions 16 is shaping up and which chiefs seem primed for a trip to the Enterprise 8.

We'll start in the Software region, where Sophos' Mike Valentine had a big weekend against Red Hat's Mark Enzweiler, taking a 65 percent to 35 percent lead after trailing to start the weekend.

The other matchup in the Software region, Microsoft's Phil Sorgen against SAP's Rodolpho Cardenuto, also saw a drastic lead change. Backed by strong weekend support, Sorgen was able to flip the script on a large deficit to come out of the weekend with a 62 percent to 38 percent lead.

The tightest contest in Round 2 remains in the Cloud region where Brooks McCorcle of AT&T added some breathing room to her lead against VMware's Frank Rauch. McCorcle now leads 58 percent to 42 percent.

In the other cloud matchup, the storage war between Datto's Rob Rae and Carbonite's Jessica Couto, Couto has rebounded to lead 70 percent to 30 percent.

In the Infrastructure region, Hewlett Packard Enterprise's Kerry Bailey continues to hold Chris Morgan of Nutanix at length, 75 percent to 25 percent.

Bailey's colleague, HPE's Scott Dunsire, is having a tougher time in his infrastructure matchup. Dunsire is currently losing to Extreme's Bob Gault 60 percent to 40 percent.

Closing things out in the Hardware region, Lenovo's Sammy Kinlaw holds a strong 74 percent to 26 percent lead over Intel's Maurits Tichelman, while Sandra Glaser Cheek of Ruckus leads Dell's Frank Vitagliano 78 percent to 22 percent.
