DISYS Solutions Hires Former PCM Exec To Lead Federal Push

Looking to boost its sales to the federal government, solutions provider DISYS Solutions has hired former PCM executive Alan Bechara, an executive with more than a quarter-century of experience in the public sector IT market, to lead the effort.

Bechara served as president of PCMG, the subsidiary of the solution provider giant that sells to government, educational institutions and health-care organizations. He began his new role as senior vice president of sales and marketing last month at DISYS, where he will oversee about 50 employees, he told CRN.

"I feel fortunate that they - in a way – kind of adopted me," he said. "It’s a really good thing when you walk into an organization that is well-run with tremendous talent. It’s great to be here.

Bechara said DISYS, based in Ashburn, Va., has historically focused on its state and local government and education (SLED) business, which has grown the last few years, but DISYS is looking to grow sales in the federal space.

"The company … has been focusing (on the federal market) in the last few years, and is seeing a bigger opportunity there," he said, noting that although he won’t neglect the company's need to keep growing SLED, he wants to push "aggressive growth" in the federal space.

"There is no doubt cybersecurity is an advantage for us, and that area seems to fit very well with some of the areas that we expect to grow in the federal budget," Bechara said.

Bechara came to DISYS – No. 61 on CRN’s Solution Provider 500 list – after 14 years with PCM's North American public-sector and health care arm. He served as the unit’s president for 13 years and one year as chairman of the board.

Before PCMG, Bechara was vice president of IT provider Insight Enterprises' public sector business for six years. That grew from a start-up sales and marketing organization into a $200 million business, according to a statement released by DISYS.

"We look forward to working with Mr. Bechara to take our sales to the next level," DISYS CEO Atul Bhatia said in a statement. Bhatia said. ’I’m confident that his proven track record and relationship building skills will be valuable assets for (DSIYS) and its customers.’
