Tyler Tech Buys Scheduling Software Solution Provider ExecuTime

Government solution provider Tyler Technologies has acquired scheduling software solutions company ExecuTime Software, aiming to boost its enterprise resource planning (ERP) capabilities.

Broken Arrow, Okla.-based ExecuTime's software solution is focused on the public sector and supports 200 public sector clients across the U.S., many of which are also clients of Tyler. Financial details of the deal were not released.

Plano, Texas-based Tyler Technologies -- No. 51 on the CRN 2015 Solution Provider 500 -- will be gaining about 30 employees with the acquisition, all of whom will become part of Tyler's Enterprise Group, which includes its Munis, Incode and New World ERP solutions, as well as Tyler's school and transportation solutions.

"Joining Tyler Technologies is the culmination of a long-term partnership, during which I saw how well-matched our companies are from a technology innovation perspective," Kevin Malone, founder and president of ExecuTime, said in a statement.

ExecuTime's scheduling and time-tracking solution, which is aimed at the municipal services, local government and public safety markets, can be utilized by Tyler Tech in tandem with the company's other ERP solutions to help solve complex scheduling problems for police, fire and public works departments, according to the company.

This acquisition follows two other deals that Tyler made in 2015, which increased the company's scale and capabilities in mobile data gathering.

Last May, the company spent $10 million to acquire eCitation, a 45-person solution provider specializing in electronic citation software, to add to its mobile data gathering capabilities and enable police officers to remotely write electronic parking or speeding tickets with a mobile device.

In October, Tyler made the largest acquisition in its 49-year history, spending $360 million and aiming to improve its scale by acquiring longtime competitor New World Systems.

Malone said becoming part of Tyler will provide ExecuTime with a stability it currently does not have as a standalone entity. Specifically, Malone said, he believes ExecuTime will be able to accelerate its growth, thanks to Tyler's growing scale and resources.

"Tyler has a history of acquiring best-of-breed solutions that enhance existing Tyler solutions and open new avenues for growth," Andrew D. Teed, Tyler’s enterprise group president, said in a statement. "ExecuTime has been a trusted business partner for many years, and we are eager to pursue new opportunities with Kevin and his team now that they're part of the Tyler family."
