Avaya’s channel chief, Karl Soderlund, is leaving the company after nearly two years in that position. An internal memo CRN obtained shows that Soderlund’s last day will be March 7, and he is leaving to pursue outside opportunities. His departure comes after a series of channel executive exits in the past year, including worldwide channel chief John Spiliotis, who left the company for Palo Alto Networks.
Avaya recently launched a redesigned partner program, which will transition Avaya’s partner rewards model from a volume- to value-based structure.
IBM is launching a Watson Mobile Developers challenge, which is aimed at attracting mobile developers to build apps utilizing its Watson cognitive computing platform. Over the next three months, IBM will select three teams with the best ideas and give them seed funding. The chosen teams will also have access to Watson engineers and consultants to help them go to market with their apps.
This week, AT&T committed to investing $300 million into its Partner Exchange channel program over the next three years, which the company said will go toward partner training resources and financing options. AT&T launched Partner Exchange, its first partner program designed for solution providers, a year ago.
