Toshiba CEO's Goal: Double Channel Business

Toshiba America Information Systems President and CEO Mark Simons wants to be transparent with the channel: This is a different Toshiba than it knows from the past.

"I want to make sure that we give the clear message to the channel of our commitment. We’re a B2B company, and we want to make sure that we get the channel behind us,’ Simons told CRNtv.

Toshiba recently made the decision to separate consumer and B2B segments, doubling down on channel efforts. Simons said the company, which hails itself as the creator of the laptop computer 30 years ago, is ’getting back to some of our core basics.’

’Growing our business in the channel is one of our core strategies that we have in our midterm business plan,’ said Simons.

Products, as always, will continue to be at the center of that strategy, but Simons said it’s key that Toshiba offers the right programs and incentives for channel partners. Toshiba’s goal in the coming years is to double business in the B2B segment.

Toshiba is in the ’very early’ stages of research and design in Internet of Technology trends, which Simons said also holds great promise for partners.

’We’re going to carve out a whole new set of solutions and services,’ Simons said.
