IBM continues to combat rumors that it will lay off more than a quarter of its workforce in coming weeks.

Reports late last week said the company may cut 110,000 jobs -- its biggest wave of layoffs ever. IBM recently reported its eleventh consecutive quarter of falling revenues. IBM called the speculation ’ridiculous,’ and said that layoffs would be in the realm of several thousand employees, with no specific date noted.

During the December quarter, Samsung posted a 64 percent drop in profits in its mobile division. This was Samsung's fifth quarter of declining profits in a row. Overall, Samsung's 2014 profit dropped from last year's $36.8 trillion to $25 trillion.

Samsung said, despite the report, the company expects its mobile division to post growing numbers in 2015.

It's the end of the road for EMC and Ingram Micro; EMC will end its relationship with the distributor in April.

Solution providers will no longer be able to source EMC storage products through Ingram Micro after working together for eight years. EMC will maintain the relationship for its VMware and RSA businesses, and continue distribution relationships with Arrow, Avnet and Tech Data.

Ingram Micro declined to name the number of channel partners affected by the move.
