Channel Beat: SAP Cuts Jobs In Stalling Areas

SAP will cut more than 2,200 jobs this year, the company said Friday morning. That's roughly 3 percent of SAP's workforce.

SAP said the layoffs will be in areas where the company does not see future growth, but has not disclosed which parts of the company those are. SAP did say it plans to create other jobs around cloud service and its HANA in-memory database offering. SAP said customers will not be affected.

Apple is reportedly stalling production of its next iPad model because it's exploring enterprise-related avenues for sales.

Bloomberg reported Apple's new iPad will feature a bigger frame, and add-on enterprise accessories and design like USB ports. Apple dominated the tablet space at the end of last year, but overall tablet shipments have been slipping. iPad sales dropped 18 percent in the fourth quarter of 2014 compared with the same period in 2013. Apple will hold a press event on March 9, which will likely also address the Apple Watch.

Cisco will partner with ZixCorp, an email data protection company based in Dallas. Cisco partners are hailing the OEM relationship as a boost to the channel.

Cisco said the partnership will strengthen the company’s security portfolio with new and user-friendly email encryption, and existing IEA customers will get an update to security hardware and software. The partnership is the latest in Cisco's efforts to ramp up its security portfolio. The company also recently acquired security company Sourcefire.
