Channel Beat: Spinoff Looming For Citrix Systems?

Sources tell CRN thatCitrix Systems is considering a sale or spinoffof its online services group, which includes GoToMeeting and GoToMyPC.

Citrix faces stiff competition in several business areas, and unloading its online services business could help the company focus on core businesses like desktop and virtualization.

Citrix would not comment on the story.

Nokia will acquire rival Alcatel-Lucentin what’s valued as a $16.6 billion deal.

Partners of both companies have shown support for the deal, which is expected to close by the first half of next year. The new company will be called Nokia Corp., and will focus on development of 5G, SDN, cloud and analytics.

This week,Jeff Howells announced his retirement from Tech Data, after more than 20 years of work at the distributor.

The CFO shepherded the company from its beginning as a small regional distributor in Florida, and he will be replaced by another Tech Data veteran, Chuck Dannewitz. Dannewitz has spent the last year as CFO for the Americas region.
