Intel's 'Hottest' Business Segments For 2015

Intel will direct its resources and channel partners toward three business segments in particular this year: Internet of Things -- retail -- big data and hybrid cloud, and storage.

"We're focused on verticals and segments that we think have a lot of opportunity for our partners," said Director of North America Reseller Channel Programs Todd Garrigues.

Internet of Things -- retail -- includes digital signage, and security and surveillance solutions, which Garrigues said will ease partners into the rapidly growing Internet-of-Things segment.

"These are adjacencies to a lot of our partners' business, so it's not as radical as a step to have to go learn a completely new segment of business," he said.

In the data center space, Garrigues said big data and hybrid cloud represent "really, really high-growth areas." He also named storage as a "great spot for customers [partners] to focus."

Garrigues promised increased training, benefits and support for Intel's reseller channel.

"We're trying to give our partners the expertise and resources that they can use to go create new businesses for themselves," Garrigues said.

"This is very much a long-term investment for us to help the channel take advantage of new opportunities and new segments as things go forward," he added.
