Channel Beat: Dell Bashes Cisco, Again

Dell continues to target Cisco with trash talk -- this time around cloud. In a new ad, Dell claims it can build a future-ready cloud 80 percent faster than Cisco, and at a lower price tag.

Dell has ramped up competition with Cisco over the last few months and publicly criticized Cisco's proprietary technologies.

Dell reps told CRN they are going after Cisco, but 'everyone else' as well. Dell estimates cloud is currently a $100 billion market, and said it has done more than a billion integration processes over the last 30 days.

This week, Google made significant changes to its cloud platform channel program in an effort to gain some ground against Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure.

Google partners can now act as true resellers, as they will have the ability to perform billing and management rather than act as just agents.

Google partners cheered on the change, which will allow them to bundle different cloud services and add value to packages.

IDC released a mobile phone forecast this week that shows bad news for Apple's iOS operating system.

According to IDC, Apple will struggle against Android on price points. Android devices are expected to take 81.1 percent of the smartphone market share. iOS is expected to grow 16.1 percent year over year, and take only 15.6 percent of the market share.

IDC expects that trend to hold until at least 2019.
