Channel Beat: VMware CEO Tries To Contain Rumor Mill

Don ' t believe the rumors -- t his week, VMware CEO Pat Gelsinger said his company will not acquire parent company EMC in a downstream merger.

Gelsinger told analysts at a VMware event that the deal was not a serious consideration. He also expressed his support for EMC. Several news organizations have reported on speculation around both an acquisition of EMC by VMware and VMware by EMC. Right now, EMC owns about 80 percent of VMware. There is also speculation about a potential acquisition of HP Enterprise by EMC.

Cisco and Apple have teamed up for a huge partnership that should lead to tight integration between Apple devices and Cisco collaboration products, the companies announced this week.
