Channel Beat: Dell Bashes Hewlett Packard Enterprise's New Product

Dell fired shots at Hewlett Packard Enterprise this week over the company's new composable Synergy architecture.

In an official Dell blog, a Dell veteran said the new product is impractical and expensive, and even called it a "derelict big idea."

HPE unveiled the new architecture this week, and it's set to launch early next year. CEO Meg Whitman called the product revolutionary.

Dell partners are celebrating the planned IPO for the Dell SecureWorks cybersecurity business.

The announcement came Wednesday, about four years after Dell acquired SecureWorks for about $612 million. Partners are in overwhelming favor of the IPO and of SecureWorks as an independent entity away from Dell.

Reuters reported that Dell has talked to three equity buyout firms about the possibility of purchasing SonicWall and the Dell Quest Software business for about $2 billion each.

Microsoft released the newest edition of Office365 this week -- the new enterprise-grade version is called E5.

Microsoft said E5 has plenty of opportunities for partners, including the ability to upsell to existing customers the new web-conferencing and cloud-based tools in the Office Suite. Partners can sell stand-alone features of the entire Office 365 Enterprise E5 package.

The new release also includes end-user organizational analytics.
