Actifio CEO: Why Data Is The New Infrastructure

Just before Actifio wrapped its 2015 fiscal year, it introduced its newest copy data virtualization solution: Global Manager.

’It allows organizations to dramatically cut down the cost of managing their data, cost of making data accessible and, more importantly, allowing these people to go back and pretty much use any infrastructure that’s out there,’ said Actifio CEO Ash Ashutosh.

The offering is the latest chapter in Actifio’s six-year journey to ’make data the new infrastructure.’

’As we started to scale to some of the largest enterprises, two things became very clear: The size of the enterprises people are managing were getting bigger and bigger, and people were starting to use all kinds of facilities for infrastructure,’ said Ashutosh.

Partners looking to capitalize on the solution should target organizations with a lot of back offices, or organizations that want to consolidate how they manage data.

Ashutosh said the solution fits into the economic trend toward digital transformation.

’Pretty much every physical business is being decimated by its counterpart,’ he said. ’You have to find a way to be in the digital part of the business.’

According to Ashutosh, data is the most important part of digital transformation, and the most opportunities ahead are around data-as-a-service and data-as-infrastructure solutions.
