A variety of surveys studied by IT Best of Breed and CRN indicate that this will be a decent year for solution providers in terms of how much money companies will look to spend on IT, especially in the areas of cloud and security.

CompTIA predicts an increase of just less than 5 percent this year for solution providers, with cloud and security leading the way. Mobile technology and data analytics will likely also propel growth.

Tempe, Ariz.-based Insight Enterprises conducted a survey that showed technology infrastructure upgrades offer significant service opportunities for solution providers in 2016. The survey indicated that many corporate executives are less than thrilled with the current state of their infrastructures, giving them a grade of B-.

The survey showed that when it comes to upgrading infrastructure, the focus is largely around improving the network. That includes cloud migrations, so it is essential that solution providers understand hybrid architectures.
