How IoT Helps The Channel Sell To Line Of Business

/**/ /**/Thanks to Internet of Things solutions, Microsoft partner 10th Magnitude can sell tech to the line of business using real-world examples.

Chicago-based 10th Magnitude's Jason Rook, vice president of alliances, gave the example of a customer that builds and operates street sweepers.

The customer operates street sweepers around most of Southern California, and operates under drought constraints. Los Angeles requires the company to report how much water it uses to clean streets each day.

"So, they've had sensors in their street sweepers for years, but what they haven't been able to do is grab the data off of that and report it back to the customer on a timely basis," Rook said.

The company teamed up with 10th Magnitude and developed a solution through which it could report accurate information to municipalities, with fast turnaround.

"We know how much detergent to put in the water, and all those types of things," he said.

That kind of concrete example makes a difference in who they can get meetings with.

"That's an IoT story, and that's something that the line of business is really excited about, more so than IT," Rook said.
