Nokia will cut thousands of jobs worldwide, the company announced this week.

Nokia could eliminate up to 15,000 jobs - more than 14 percent of its global workforce. The move is a $1 billion cost-saving effort following its Alcatel-Lucent acquisition.

That deal, completed in January, was valued at about $17 billion.
