Solution Provider Tech Mahindra Helps GE Cut Costs

When General Electric hired solution provider Tech Mahindra, the company had lofty goals in mind: cut operating costs and eliminate obsolescence while minimizing the impact on day-to-day business.

’They really set the ball rolling a few years ago when they made the bold statement to move 80 percent of their apps to the cloud. They’re not there yet, [but] we’ve helped them in their journey,’ said Arvind Malhotra, head of energy and utility at Tech Mahindra.

GE is now Tech Mahindra’s second largest account on the enterprise side, and the solution provider holds it up as a success story.

’We’ve taken so many costs out first by virtualizing their data centers and then by migrating their apps to the cloud. They’re all in, as far as the cloud is concerned,’ Malhotra said.

In slightly more than two years, Tech Mahindra has helped GE cut $17 million in costs through digital transformation, and it has migrated more than 600 applications to the public and private cloud.

’It’s been very transformational,’ Malhotra said.
