PTC Extends Thingworx IoT Platform To New Cloud Integrations

As device cloud services continue to grow in importance in the booming Internet of Things era, PTC has developed new cloud technology that can be integrated into its IoT Platform-as-a-Service play, Thingworx. This month, PTC expects to fully support Microsoft's Azure IoT Hub.

PTC has already harnessed AWS as one of its ’core cloud providers,’ and Mark Relph, Head of Global Business Development, Mobile & IoT AWS, said building a partnership with PTC has proven extremely positive for AWS.

’Through our partners we’re able to build a lot of vertical and specialty capabilities on top of our platform,’ he said.

Thingworx can be hosted on top of AWS’s cloud, and Thingworx users can develop IoT apps without coding.

’We’ve worked with PTC to integrate with the AWS IoT service. So now, you’re using AWS IoT to connect to the device, to ingest data and events,’ Relph said.

PTC is taking a forward-looking approach to the partnership to include cutting edge technolgies.

’Augmented reality and machine learning can also be augmented on top of AWS and we’re really excited there,’ Relph said.
