Carbonite Sees SMB Boom, Credits EVault Acquisition

Cloud and hybrid business continuity vendor Carbonite continues to grow its SMB business following its purchase of EVault from Seagate Technology. Vice President of U.S. Channel Sales and Marketing Jessica Couto told CRNtv the EVault acquisition has opened new doors for customers and partners.

’It definitely helps provide another solution for our partners to reach customers that maybe we couldn’t fill or meet their needs with Carbonite,’ Couto said.

’Our MSPs’ fulfillment wasn’t strong, and EVault has a great product that will allow more white-labeling, seeding, forever incrementals,’ she added.

Carbonite’s second financial quarter showed a revenue increase of 57 percent year over year, with SMB bookings representing the majority of total bookings.

’That’s a big important focus for us and for our CEO, around the SMB space,’ Couto said, and called the area Carbonite’s ’new focal point.’

’We’re seeing that growth into the SMB space because it covers a lot of need, it covers a lot of service, it covers a lot of requests that we couldn’t fulfill before, and so the SMB numbers are just growing,’ she said.

Carbonite expects the growth to continue through the remainder of 2016 and into 2017. Couto said the company is seriously looking to expand its partner program globally.

’That’s really exciting for us because it will really emphasize the positive changes we made this year for our Carbonite partners,’ she said.
