Nearly One Year Later, Hewlett Packard Enterprise's Dunsire Calls Split 'Absolutely Right Decision'

Nearly one year after Hewlett-Packard split into two independent companies, Hewlett-Packard Enterprise Vice President and General Manager Scott Dunsire said the company is operating without any regrets.

’It’s been a great year. I think separating Hewlett-Packard Enterprise and HP Inc. was absolutely the right decision for the company,’ Dunsire said on stage at the Channel Company’s IT Best of Breed Conference in Atlanta.

As HPE closes out fiscal year 2016 and gears up for FY 2017, Dunsire is confident in the company’s current size.

’What we really did is right-sized our company, really to better align ourselves with some of the changes that are happening,’ Dunsire said, adding that the company can address the conversations with customers that change on a ’daily’ basis.

’Separating the company has also given us the opportunity to make some major investments. We’re not distracted,’ he said.

After breaking off to become HPE, the company also made divestitures. It is selling off its enterprise services divisions and some software business, a move that Dunsire maintains is ’good for channel partners.’

’There was conflict with our channel partners. So having that become its own company now with CSC really gives us the opportunity to align closely with our partners,’ he said.

Looking forward, Dunsire predicts HPE partners will play an even bigger role in the company’s business as it drills down into the data infrastructure market.

’We’re going to need our partners more than ever,’ he said.
