Dell EMC's Marius Haas Speculates On Meg Whitman's Future With HPE

Dell EMC Chief Commercial Officer and President Marius Haas singled out Lenovo and Hewlett Packard Enterprise as two rival companies that may face challenges and potential changes in the near future while he spoke on stage at the IT Best of Breed Conference in Atlanta.

Haas was critical of Lenovo’s $250-million-per-quarter cash flow loss and acquisition of IBM’s server business.

’The PC business can’t carry that. So I think there are some changes coming there,’ he said.

Haas also doubted whether Meg Whitman plans to stay at the helm of Hewlett Packard Enterprise for very much longer.

’I can’t believe that the end game for Meg is to just keep getting smaller, so there’s got to be another play up her sleeves, or she’s going somewhere else,’ he said.

Haas tossed out the idea that Whitman might return to the political sphere, while remarking on her "focus" on "other interests" outside HPE.

’It’s funny, the individual that kept saying that we would be distracted and/or unfocused is the individual that four years ago ran for Republican governorship of California and now is supporting the Democratic presidential candidate publicly at the debates,’ he said.
