Lenovo's flagship ThinkPad notebook is getting an upgrade by the end of June. The anticipated Lenovo T400s ThinkPad is being designed to be thin and light and to compete directly with Apple's MacBook Air.
Jay McBain, director, small and medium business, Americas, Lenovo, confirmed Tuesday that Lenovo's ThinkPad T400s will be refreshed "toward the end of June." McBain was speaking at Everything Channel's Driving Profits With Emerging Technologies Virtual Tradeshow. Everything Channel is the owner of Channelweb.com.
The ThinkPad T400s was designed with the Lenovo X301 notebook in mind, with the computer manufacturer putting the emphasis on being thin and light. McBain said that the T400s will have a full range of ports, drawing a contrast between Lenovo's upcoming notebook and Apple's MacBook Air.
The T400s will be "a fully functional ThinkPad in an ultraportable case," he said.
McBain also briefly touched on the upcoming technology customers can expect, indicating that Lenovo has a whole line of products ready to roll out over the course of the summer and around the release of Windows 7.
One of the features that the computer maker is gearing up for is Windows 7 native support of multitouch technology. To that end, McBain confirmed that the company has a line of PCs planned for launch later this summer that will range from 10 to 17 inches in size. The computer manufacturer also has a multitouch screen tablet in the works that will be available later this year.
