Popular music streaming service Spotify has released a version of its Spotify Mobile software for mobile phones that run on the Symbian operating system. That means the peer-to-peer music application is available for Symbian-based smartphones from Nokia, Samsung and Sony Ericsson.
Spotify, which allows a user to listen to specific tracks or albums, already runs on Apple's iPhone and Android-based mobile phones. That leaves only Blackberry phones and devices running Windows Mobile as the only devices that do not run Spotify Mobile.
Symbian accounts for 50 percent of the global smartphone market. In addition to running on Nokia devices, such as the Nokia 6220 Classic and E71, Symbian is also used by the Samsung GT-18910 Ominia HD and Sony Ericsson Satio smartphones. Spotify began supporting the iPhone and Android devices in September.
The Spotify Mobile service is available only for Spotify Premium subscribers in the U.K., France, Spain, Sweden, Norway and Finland. The company offers monthly and annual subscriptions.
