Backupify Targets Google Apps Partners With New Program

Backupify has launched its first official partner program aimed at Google Apps cloud providers, arming them with the ability to offer backup and recovery capabilities and add a new, recurring revenue stream.

The Backupify Authorized Reseller Program, on top of Google Apps, gives cloud providers a new tool in their arsenal and the ability to offer a full-fledged cloud play that adds backup and data recovery and a new set of services through which to offer those capabilities.

Daniel Stevenson, Backupify's vice president of partnerships and alliances, said the new program helps partners "bundle peace-of-mind into their Google Apps deployments." Since Google Apps lacks native backup capabilities, partners can add safeguards to protect against data loss via archiving, search and restore for myriad Google Apps like Gmail, Google docs, Google Calendar, Google Contacts and Google Sites. Backupify promises the same data protection of legacy, on-premise applications.

The Backupify Authorized Reseller program gives Google's stable of more than 3,500 Google Apps resellers and implementation partners, including VARs, MSPs and consultants, the ability to boost Google Apps functionality while adding recurring revenue. Partners will receive product and sales training; a dedicated Backupify sales channel team with deal registration; extensive marketing tools; and reduced service costs associated with customer data-loss recovery, Stevenson said.

Backupify also works with ISVs offering cloud-based applications that want to provide customers assurance that data is backed up and readily accessible. Through integration with Backupify, ISVs can add data protection functionality to their applications as a value-added service while earning recurring revenues.

"It's our intention to sell as much as we can through the channel," Stevenson said.

The partner program comes as more companies adopt Google Apps and users look for reliable backup and archive tools for data.

"The adoption of Google Apps has exploded in the past year, and increasingly companies rely on solutions providers to help move their operations to the cloud. Yet until recently, backup for SaaS applications have been the missing component of those deployments. A move to the cloud should not require a leap of faith," said Stevenson. "Through our partner program, Backupify is empowering resellers with the tools and resources to extend the security of their customers' cloud data while accelerating sales cycles and increasing revenue opportunities."
