Oracle is expanding its portfolio of cloud offerings, unveiling seven new cloud services Tuesday including planning and budgeting, financial reporting, development and messaging cloud services.
The announcements are the latest in a blitz of cloud computing news at the Oracle OpenWorld show in San Francisco this week, including new channel programs to help partners expand into cloud computing and plans to offer Infrastructure-as-a-Service cloud services.
"We are bringing a broad and complete suite of software applications and business processes delivered through the cloud," said Thomas Kurian, executive vice president of product development, in a keynote speech. "We don't want our customers to have fragmented data and fragmented business processes" running in multiple, disparate cloud systems, he said.

The services are currently in "preview" mode. Oracle did not say when they would be generally available.
Earlier this week CEO Larry Ellison unveiled plans for Oracle to offer Infrastructure-as-a-Service cloud services, along with the Software-as-a-Service applications and Platform-as-a-Service software the company already offers.
The new services unveiled by Kurian include the Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud Service, based on Oracle's Hyperion Planning software in a subscription-based service for financial planning, budgeting and forecasting. Also new is the Oracle Financial Reporting Cloud Service for creating financial reports and corporate statements.
The Oracle Data and Insight Cloud Service aggregates customer and prospect data from inside and outside a company for use by CRM applications and other business systems. The Oracle Developer Cloud Service is a standards-based development environment with control management, issue tracking, continuous integration and document collaboration capabilities. And the Oracle Social Sites Cloud Service is used by businesses to develop and launch online social sites.
Oracle Storage Cloud Service will help businesses store and manage digital content in the cloud and is integrated with other Oracle cloud services that need online storage. The Oracle Messaging Cloud Service, meanwhile, provides data communications via asynchronous message queues between Oracle cloud services and other applications.
New Collaboration Services, Mobile Services and Analytical Services, part of the broader Oracle Cloud Platform Services, will be available in preview mode later this year. Oracle Cloud Platform Services already includes the Database Service and Java Service.
Oracle also unveiled Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud X3-2, an upgrade of the flagship server for running business applications with the new Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud Software 2.0. Also debuting at Oracle OpenWorld was an upgrade of the analytics software that powers the Exalytics In-Memory Machine.
