Joyent, a San Francisco-based cloud infrastructure provider, has named a new CEO and says it plans an updated version of its Joynet6 cloud platform for enterprises.
Henry Wasik, most recently president and CEO of Force10 Networks, will take over as Joyent's CEO, the company said. At Force10 Networks, Wasik increased revenue tenfold to $200 million after joining Force10 in 2004.

Before working at Force10, Wasik held the position of senior vice president at Alcatel and, prior that, he was senior director of marketing & product management at DSC Communications.
Wasik replaces David Young, who left earlier this year. Joyent Co-Founder and CTO Jason Hoffman has been acting as interim CEO since Young's departure.
"Joyent has developed an innovative and highly differentiated cloud infrastructure designed to meet the new requirements of today's burgeoning web and mobile applications," Wasik said in a statement. "This is a cloud infrastructure provider that, early on, decided to invest in performance and reliability first -- and it shows."
The updated platform, called Joyent7 and due in early 2013, will offer optimized datacenter resource management and utilization with low costs.
Steve Tuck, senior vice president and general manager of Joyent's cloud business, said Joyent7 will focus on enterprise needs for a fast and flexible cloud infrastructure platform that can be easily managed.
Joyent7 "will enable enterprises to deploy highly scalable infrastructure in their own datacenter," Tuck said in an interview.
New features of Joyent7 will include:
--Unified directory services, which improve access control and supports cloud-scale loads, replication and synchronization.
--Billing and financial management, which provides additional reporting capabilities.
--Updated cloud operations dashboard and toolkit, which offers tools for operators and system administrators.
--Workflow APIs, which offer expanded catalog of APIs for workflow, image management, security groups and local storage.
