A Vancouver-based mobile applications provider is finding the growing appetite for cloud computing extends to its own customers.
Flowfinity Wireless this month is expanding its cloud services to keep up with clients' strong demand for hosted enterprise mobile application deployment.
Although Flowfinity has offered hosting services for customers using mobile applications for almost a year, this month the company significantly expanded the bandwidth, server and storage capacity in both its Toronto and Vancouver data centers.

The company's customers are rapidly moving from installing mobile applications on-premise to using hosted services, Larry Wilson, Flowfinity's vice president of sales and marketing, said in an interview Friday with CRN.
"We've been receiving a high number of requests from our customers for their mobile apps to be hosted rather than installed, so we set up an environment to do it," Wilson said. "We increased capacity, bandwidth and redundancy."
Another option for Flowfinity would be to contract with third-party hosting providers for cloud services, but Wilson said the company is more comfortable offering the services itself.
"We went beyond what would be expected for a hosted provider," Wilson said. "We set up our own data center operations, with two data centers 2,500 miles apart, with high capacity, and redundancy."
Flowfinity, a privately held company, does not give out financial information but said it has more than 200 customers, mostly in North America and Europe.
