DLT Solutions Adds AWS GovCloud To Its Cloud Services

Government VAR DLT Solutions is adding Amazon Web Services' GovCloud to its lineup of AWS infrastructure offerings.

Although DLT has been a year-long customer of AWS, in the cloud service provider's East and West Regions, the use of AWS GovCloud will permit it to offer government services in a public cloud.

AWS GovCloud lets customers meet regulatory compliance by following International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements and fulfilling mandates by some government customers that their systems and data be only accessed by U.S. citizens.

"DLT is a public sector reseller, so it was a natural fit to adopt AWS GovCloud," David Blankenhorn, DLT's chief cloud technologist and leader of the DLT Cloud Advisory Group, said in an interview with CRN.

Federal and state government agencies are becoming increasingly comfortable with using public cloud services to host their resources, Blankenhorn said.

"In the last year, we've seen federal [and state] organizations dip their toes into the public cloud after seeing proof of development tests and decided to deploy workloads to the public cloud," he said. "They are interested in constituency-facing data or applications designed for citizens."

DLT also offers public cloud services with Google and BMC and private cloud services through several partners, including Oracle, Red Hat and Eucalyptus, Blankenhorn added.

DLT, a private company, does not release financial records, but it recorded about $800 million in revenue in 2012, Blankenhorn said.
