Microsoft Eyes Combination Of Midmarket 'Mega-Trends'

In an interview with CRN TV, Jordan Chrysafidis, vice president of Microsoft's U.S. Small & Medium Segment and Partner Organization, said Microsoft is highlighting four specific "megatrends": mobile computing, social media, cloud and business intelligence. And, he said, the software giant is looking for ways to combine the four trends.

"I think what's very unique ... is really not thinking about each of those independently, but how they come together," Chrysafidis said.

For example, he said, Amazon has done a good job of combining these trends with its Amazon Kindle mobile devices, its use of social ratings for products, its cloud storage offerings and its use of BI data to offer customers product recommendations. Chrysafidis also said these trends are largely being driven by consumers.

As for the midmarket, Chrysafidis said he's optimistic about economic growth. "The economy is really turning around," he said. "We're seeing sectors like manufacturing really start to pick up again."
