AWS: Why Partners Should Consider Starting A Cloud Services Practice With Amazon Web Services

It's no secret that cloud service is a hot area for a partner to be in, and Amazon Web Services has established itself as a major player in the game. AWS Vice President David McCann spoke at The Channel Company's NexGen Cloud Conference in San Diego this week, where he recruited new partners looking to enter the space.

"We're not growing without partners," said McCann, who touted AWS' fast-growing worldwide community.

McCann said he respected how channel partners are always looking to learn new skill sets, even if those skills become "obsolete two years later."

"If you're in the software industry, you have to embrace change. If you’re change-resistant, you're not a software channel partner," he said.

The vice president stressed that AWS partners need to be "competent in a number of service capabilities" and understand AWS, but that the vendor supplies a plethora of information and tools to help partners transition to the world of cloud computing.

"You have relearning to do, and we have to give you that relearning infrastructure through courseware, through classes, through credits, and we've got a massively established channel program," he said. "We have tens of thousands of partners on AWS worldwide."
