Value chain integration company Murano Corp. is looking to compete in the supply chain management space with heavyweights SAP and Oracle, promising lower cost and quick cloud implementation.

Murano’s Sree Rajagopalan pointed out the lack of an Amazon-style marketplace in the business-to-business world during a demonstration of Murano's supply chain enterprise resource planning (ERP) software at the Microsoft New England Research and Design Center.

"That's where we've come up with a new class of software called supply chain resource planning software. It's not just an ERP, but it's more than an ERP. So we have an online marketplace, big data analytics, supply chain visibility and customer relationship management," Rajagopalan said.

The software is modeled after consumer-level online ordering marketplaces, and Murano, based in Research Triangle Park, N.C., promises it is optimum for both large enterprises and small to midsize businesses. Murano promises that the software can be implemented and updated fasted than SAP and Oracle solutions, and offers greater data accuracy.
