BenQ's VP Of Marketing Exits Company

On Monday afternoon, Al Giazzon, vice president of marketing at the Irvine, Calif.-based manufacturer of monitors and peripherals, told CRN about enhancements to the company's Qreseller program. By Tuesday morning, he had left the company in a move that surprised many BenQ employees.

One BenQ employee contacted by CRN said that because the company's marketing team is split in two--with half attending the CTIA Wireless 2005 conference in New Orleans and the other half at the Intel Solution Summit in Las Vegas--information about Giazzon's departure isn't available. Company officials declined to comment on possible replacements for Giazzon.

Giazzon was scheduled to make a keynote presentation at the Intel event on Thursday. However, Intel officials have notified attendees that there will be a substitute.

In the March 7 edition of CRN, Giazzon was recognized for his work with the channel by being listed as a CRN Channel Chief.

Giazzon's sudden exit comes only a couple weeks after BenQ named Jimmy Davlouros as executive vice president. Davlouros was vice president and general manager of BenQ Canada. He moved to BenQ Canada in October of 2003 from Samsung Canada, where he served as vice president of sales in Samsung Canada's IT division.
