2006 TOP 25: 1-5 | 6-10 | 11-15 | 16-20 | 21-25

1When John Paget arrived at Synnex as its North American president and COO in 2004, he immediately beefed up the company's focus on higher-end solutions, a big departure for the lean and mean hardware distributor as it emerged as a major broadline competitor.

So when Synnex rolled its solutions businesses into a separate Technology Solutions Division in July, the former GE Access president was the natural choice to run the strategically important operation.

Synnex, Fremont, Calif., expects TSD to generate $250 million of its more than $6.2 billion in sales this year and grow to $1 billion in 2009. "We really have over the last couple of years been determined to change the distribution model and make it a real solutions model," Paget says, while taking a breather at his 31-acre "ranchlette" in Belleville, Texas.

Home is where his heart is. Paget, 56, has three children, including one adopted daughter, and has cared for 14 foster children. Born in the Belgian Congo, he has moved 25 times during his career. And he says home life and his faith in God have kept him grounded. "I think it's my rudder and the reason I do things," he says. "It's the way I live my life and the way I run my business."
