Boosted by strong sales of desktop computers and software, direct market reseller CDW announced a 22 percent increase in sales to $2.1 billion for the third quarter ended Sept. 30.
The sales figures were part of a preliminary third quarter report from the solution provider behemoth which is set to report final third quarter sales and earnings on Oct. 23. CDW shares were down 17 cents to $87.45 in midday trading.
CDW, which is in the midst of being acquired by Chicago-based private equity firm Madison Dearborn Partners for $7.3 billion, also reported September average daily revenue figures rose to $36.4 million, up 23 percent from September 2006. Total revenue for the month jumped to $692 million, up 17 percent from September 2006.
Sales from Berbee Information Networks, which CDW acquired on Oct. 11 2006, were up 30 percent in September. If sales from Berbee are excluded, CDW's average daily revenue figure dips to $34.4 million for an increase of 16 percent over last September. Average daily revenues from the corporate segment rose 13 percent, while in the public sector revenue jumped 21 percent.
Total revenue in the corporate sector grew 13 percent to $1.22 billion, while in the public sector revenue was up 18 percent to $766.3 million.
