Camera-maker Nikon Corp announced the addition of three digital cameras to its lineup, including a high-performance compact, the Coolpix P80 and two thin and lightweight models, the Coolpix S52 and S52c.

The pocketsize S52 and S52c cameras are slim enough to fit in a user's back pocket, both models offer 9.0 megapixel image resolution and feature Optical VR Image Stabilization technology, which compensates for camera shake. Users have a wide range of ISO settings (up to 3200), which provide more opportunities to capture fast moving subjects and greater flexibility and clarity when shooting in low-light settings.

Perhaps the most intriguing feature on the S52c is it's Wi-Fi capability, which allows users to send images directly via email or to Nikon's photo sharing and storage service, my Picturetown.

"We are pleased to introduce the Coolpix S52 and the S52c to our Style Series line of compact cameras, as they combine an elegant camera design with advanced imaging capabilities," said Bill Giordano, general manager of marketing for Nikon's Coolpix line of digital cameras. "With the versatile Coolpix S52 and its Wi-Fi enabled counterpart, the S52c, users will have the opportunity to take incredible pictures with exceptional detail and sharpness."

The P80 is substantially larger and boasts a 10.1 megapixel CCD image sensor and an 18x optical Zoom-Nikkor lens. More versatile than the S52 and S52c series, the P80 offers a light sensitivity range up to ISO 6400 and 2.7-inch LCD monitor with anti-reflection coating, wide viewing angle and 230,000 dots of high resolution.

"The Coolpix P80 addresses a need from consumers for an ultra-zoom compact camera that offers unrivaled Nikon performance and clarity," Giordano said in a statement. "Nikon is proud to continue delivering the highest quality imaging products for photo enthusiasts and aspiring photographers with a broad range of creative control options and superior imaging ability."

The S52 and S52C will be available for $249.95 and $299.95, respectively, when the cameras hit the market in May. The P80, available in early April, retails for $399.95.
