Sharp Electronics is venturing into new territory and this month will debut its new line of AQUOS LED Backlit LCD TVs.

The company's AQUOS LED System incorporates Sharp's UltraBrilliant LED backlight technology that illuminates the TV to high brightness and contrast levels. The system also includes LEDs (light emitting diodes) that are evenly dispersed behind the diffuser, providing more uniform colors and brightness across the entire screen.

The new TV line uses Sharp's next-generation, full high-definition 1080p X-Gen LCD panel with 10-bit processing, which has advanced pixel control to minimize light leakage and produce extremely deep black levels, according to the company.

The X-Gen panel also provides a wider aperture that lets in more light to pass through the panel for higher peak brightness. The panel provides Spectral Contrast Engine MC for a high Dynamic Contrast Ratio of more than 2,000,000:1.

The new TV line also has Fine Motion Enhanced technology for 120-Hz Frame Rate Conversion and a fast pixel response time of 4ms. The TVs also have a 176-degree viewing angle that lets viewers in various parts of a room see brighter color reproduction.

In addition, the AQUOS LED series includes Sharp's AQUOS Net service, which provides instant access to customized Web-based content and real-time customer support.

Several different models are available. The 52-inch (LC-52LE700UN) has an MSRP of $2,799.99, although you can purchase it elsewhere, like CDW, where it lists for $2,212.99.

The other models in the series are the 46-inch (LC-46LE700UN), MSRP $2,199.99; the 40-inch (LC-40E700UN), MSRP $1,699.99; and the 32-inch (LC-32LE700UN), MSRP $1,099.99.

Separately, Sharp also unveiled two monster-sized AQUOS LCD TVs, the 65-inch LC-65E77UM and the LC-60E77UN, the first 60-inch LCD TV on the market. Both TVs will be available in September, but if you want one, you better get out your wallet: the LC-65E77UM has a MSRP of $4,499.99 and the LC-60E77UN has an MSRP of $3,499.99.
