Oracle: Sun Acquisition A Done Deal

More than nine months after Oracle said it would buy Sun Microsystems for $7.4 billion, the acquisition is complete.

In a brief statement issued Wednesday morning, Oracle said it had completed the acquisition after receiving final approval from regulatory authorities.

Tuesday Sun filed documents with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to delist its shares from the Nasdaq stock exchange.

Oracle is holding a five-hour Webcast today to detail its road map for integrating Sun's hardware and software products with Oracle's products.

Last week Oracle received approval from the European Union for the deal " the last major hurdle Oracle faced before it could close the acquisition. Also last week, Oracle said it was awaiting approval from regulatory authorities in Russia and China before officially completing the Sun buy.

Oracle received the green light for the acquisition from U.S. regulatory authorities and from Sun shareholders last year.
