Gateway Revamps Server Line

The tower of the trio, the Gateway 9510, replaces Gateway's 960X and 980 Series servers, and starts at $1,199, said the Irvine, Calif.-based manufacturer. The tower, which can be converted to a 5U rack format, can include up to half a dozen Serial ATA (SATA) or 10 SCSI hot-swappable drives, and can be packed with redundant power supplies and fans as well.

The 2U-format Gateway 9515 Series, which replaces the Gateway 975 Series server and starts at $1,499, includes RAID 0/1 support, and can work as a file and/or print server, a basic application server, or e-mail server, said the company.

The third server, the Gateway 9315 Series, replaces the older 955 Series server, and comes with a price tag starting at $999. The 1U rack mounted system will support up System will support up to three SATA 400GB hard drives (an optional upgrade for hot-pluggable drives will be available later).

The new servers can be configured and ordered from Gateway's Web site.
