HP, Intel Discuss 3-D Printing Partnership

HP and Intel are teaming up to bring together technology and the 3-D world. At CES 2015, Intel focused on the ways HP is integrating its technology into their hardware and development.

HP’s Sprout interactive workstation utilizes the fourth-generation Intel Core i7 Processor and Intel RealSense technology. Now, HP will leverage Sprout as the on ramp to its foray in the world of 3-D printing.

’When will HP enter the 3-D printing market? My answer has always been, when we can transform the industry, and we’re doing exactly that,’ said Dion Weisler, who will become president and CEO of HP Inc., a $56 billion PC and printing business. Weisler currently serves as executive vice president of HP's Printing and Personal Systems business.

HP’s 3-D Multijet Fusion printing technology is already 10 times faster than the fastest 3-D printer on the market, and maintains a high level of precision and quality, Weisler said.

’We need the most powerful processor on the planet and a technology partner to deliver the promise of transformative 3-D printing,’ said Weisler.

With that goal in mind, HP enlisted Intel for its Core i7 Processor, which Weisler said is ’ideally suited to computational demands that 3-D printing will require in the future.’

The partnership is a natural extension of HP and Intel’s collaboration on Sprout. Intel RealSense allows Sprout users to capture and interact with 3-D images, and now HP 3-D printing will provide the physical output for work produced on Sprout.
