While discussing data protection technologies, the Test Center highlighted technologies from Nitro Securities and M86 (which uses technologies from Finjan, the longtime security company popular in the channel, with which M86 merged).

M86's solution is a hybrid and features both on-premise and cloud-based approaches to data protection. The M86 SWG, appliance-based solution, for example, continually updates signature files in the cloud to allow an enterprise to block them and their related malicious technology from its on-premise Information Technology.

A third session by the CRN Test Center at COMDEXvirtual highlighted the latest in mobility technology, including a look at the Dell Streak, Android platform, and iOS, iPhone and iPad products from Apple. Among other things, Moltzen provided a demonstration of the GPS company TomTom's updated application for the iPhone -- which integrates its geolocation technology with the iPhone's camera device.

The combination allows for photos that are geotagged to be used in plotting out directions back to the location of the photograph -- one of the most powerful uses of geolocation on the iOS platform to date, Moltzen said.
