Hybrid hosting and data center solution provider CentriLogic on Monday said it has acquired The Capris Group, a provider of managed hosting and IT services, in an all-cash deal worth $9 million.
With the acquisition, CentriLogic will create a new business unit for delivering application and platform management services while adding Capris' data center and disaster recovery capabilities, said Robert Offley, president and CEO of Toronto-based CentriLogic.
Mississauga, Ontario-based The Capris Group brings CentriLogic increased application and platform development solutions capabilities for new and existing clients looking for complete turnkey solutions, Offley said.

Those services complement CentriLogic's existing hybrid hosted services, which include a full range of co-location, managed dedicated infrastructure, and cloud hosting services, he said.
"We can go to existing customers to provide these new services," he said. "In the early days, customers just wanted co-location and management. Now we're finding companies want to add the platform and application management."
The Capris Group, founded in 1996, provides customers ranging from SMBs to Fortune 100 enterprises with a range of custom development and IT managed services, as well as infrastructure and disaster recovery services from its own data center and emergency office facility, which offers customers temporary office facilities as needed.
"We had a backup service before, but the acquisition enhances our backup and off-site data services and work error recovery, or hot seat, services, which provides customers with workstations and uninterrupted power if needed," Offley said.
The Capris Group also brings CentriLogic a new Canadian-based data center to go with its two existing data centers in Canada, two in the U.S., one in the U.K., and one in Hong Kong, Offley said. It also adds 22 personnel to CentriLogic's existing 70-person operation.
While The Capris Group is CentriLogic's first acquisition, it will not be the last. Offley said the company is currently looking at bringing another U.S.-based data center with an existing customer base into the fold.
