Agito Networks Nabs AT&T Vet For Top Channel Post


Agito Networks this week named Donna Henderson vice president of strategic accounts. Henderson comes to Agito after 25 years at AT&T, and will be responsible for Agito's carrier, agent and direct sales channels.

Henderson was most recently senior sales vice president of AT&T's Signature Client Group, following a series of other executive roles at the carrier. She previously held senior sales and marketing positions at SBC Communications, Sprint, and e.Spire.

At Agito she'll become a crucial piece of the three-year-old company's enterprise mobility strategy, which centers around its Agito RoamAnywhere Mobility Router. The Router is a network appliance that ties together WLANs, VoIP, location technology and other communications tools in an enterprise fixed-mobile convergence (eFMC) platform that enables voice and unified communications tools for dual-mode smartphones and other mobile devices.

"At AT&T, one of the things I was doing was running the customer advisory board, and they kept pushing me toward the fixed mobile convergence space," Henderson said. "It had been on my radar for a couple of years and I was then contacted by a former client who is an advisor for Agito. He brought Agito to my attention and explained that there was a great opportunity to help this company grow and expand. We reached out to each other and started talking."

Agito's RoamAnywhere Mobility Router has seen great success on a number of mobile platforms, especially BlackBerry, said Pejman Roshan, Agito's founder and chief marketing officer.

Agito will continue to deliver VoIP to BlackBerry and other smartphone platforms -- its most recent to be announced, in October, is for Samsung smartphones -- and Roshan added that an Apple iPhone version is finally on the way, expected early in the new year.

Henderson will be charged with expanding Agito's footprint in carrier and agent channels, as well as working with some direct accounts and motivating potential partners to consider Agito as part of overall mobility solutions. She noted that Agito's technology was a glove-fit for channel growth, thanks to exploding mobile needs of enterprises.

"I was very involved with mobility at AT&T, and I began to realize that mobility expenses had begun to exceed the fixed line costs in many enterprises," she said. "Their mobility bills were escalating to the point where everyone was using their PDA, mobile devices and everything, and I said, 'I've got to find a way to get around this better.' When I looked at Agito, it answered a lot of those issues for my clients: It extends your UC platform and helps get your mobility costs under control. That's a great offer."
