Photos Of Apple's New Tablet Emerge. Or Do They?

One day before the unveiling of the so-called iSlate, designer Dustin Curtis' blog has posted pictures of the Apple tablet. From what the viewer can discern, the device looks like a 10-inch iPod Touch.

Of course, there are the deniers. This faction suspects the photos are fake, phony and fraudulent. They claim the shadows aren't right (aren't those the claims against the landing on the moon photos?) and that the reflections are implausible.

In a twist, the publisher of the photos said he agrees -- but that those deviations were purposefully inserted into the photos to cast doubt on their authenticity.

Still following? Recap: Photos of long-awaited Apple tablet appear on Net. They look real, yet phony simultaneously. Publisher agrees. Excitement builds.

Originally, industry observers thought that the tablet would be launched in March. But in Apple's earnings announcement yesterday, Steve Jobs said: "The new products we are planning to release this year are very strong, starting this week with a major new product that we're really excited about." Jobs is likely excited also that Apple reported earnings were up 50 percent, goosed by holiday orders for its Macintosh computer.

The tablet is expected to launch tomorrow at 10 a.m. Pacific Time at San Francisco's Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater.
