LG and Samsung on Tuesday said they plan to release two new cell phones and one new cell phone, respectively, with the LG Mini GD880, the LG GT350 and the Samsung Monte S5620. All three feature slick touch-screens and at their core were designed for social networking and multimedia.

LG plans to release the LG Mini GD880, which the device maker claims is the smallest and thinnest 3.2-inch full touch-screen to hit the market. The Mini ties into social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter via built-in applications. A new Social Network Feed offers instantly generated updates to the home screen from family and friends.

The LG Mini GD880 packs in a 5-megapixel camera, a Wi-Fi connection, GPS and 7.2 Mbps HSDPA.

Lastly, LG revealed the GT350, the successor to the LG KS360, a 3-inch touch-screen that delivers information from several social networking sites to one screen. Essentially, it aggregates information from several networks to let users receive updates. It also ties in a four-line QWERTY keypad with physical shortcut buttons for social networking sites.

The GT350 adds push email and will be available in four color combinations.

The Samsung Monte S5620, the latest in Samsung's S-series of cell phones, ties in applications for Facebook and MySpace, along with widgets to quickly access Twitter and Bebo. It also supports a host of IM clients. It also features a 3.2-megapixel camera and Wi-Fi connectivity.

The Samsung Monte's 3-inch, touch-screen display also adds an accelerometer which adjusts the screen when the phone is rotated while the browser is in use. Additionally, the Monte supports Exchange ActiveSync for Outlook email connectivity, Google Sync and Google Latitude, which lets users share their position with friends.

So far, pricing for the three new social networking touch-screens hasn't been released.
