The Droid Incredible will include the latest version of HTC Sense, the smartphone maker's customizable widget display that first appeared on last year's HTC Hero. According to HTC, the Droid Incredible offers seamless integration with Exchange ActiveSync, one-touch access to Flickr for photo and video sharing, and access to Google's Android Market.

It's the first phone on Verizon Wireless to include the 1 Ghz Snapdragon processor from Qualcomm, and also the first through Verizon to have an 8-megapixel camera, HTC and Verizon said.

Most of the phone's specs, which also include integrated GPS, Wi-Fi, a 3.7-inch AMOLED capacitive touch display and a proximity sensor, were mentioned in a spec sheet that leaked earlier this week to BoyGeniusReport.com and was reprinted on other tech blogs and news sites.

On Wednesday, several sources also pointed to a splash page being prepared by Verizon and appearing to list April 29 as the launch date for the phone.

According to HTC and Verizon, Droid Incredible will be available for pre-order online at www.verizonwireless.com starting Monday, and available to buy in Verizon retail stores on April 29. The $199.99 price doesn't include a Verizon talk and data plan; those begin at $39.99 a month.

The HTC Droid Incredible should be a commanding addition to Verizon's portfolio, where its current Android-powered showpiece is Motorola Droid. It also gives Verizon a wide variety of platforms at its disposal, where it can now offer Android phones, BlackBerrys, WebOS phones like the Palm Pixi Plus and Palm Pre Plus, and, if rumors are to be believed, maybe Apple's iPhone, too.

For HTC, the move expands the manufacturer's already broad reach into the Android marketplace, joining HTC's Hero, Google's Nexus One and other Android phones. Both Motorola Droid and HTC Hero appeared on Channelweb.com's list of The 10 Coolest Smartphones of 2009.
