HP Taps AMD For 14 New Business, Consumer Notebooks

“Businesses and consumers can turn to HP not only for the deepest portfolio of notebook products, but also for a wide range of technology choices to meet specific mobile computing needs,” said Ted Clark, senior vice president and general manager of the Notebook Global Business Unit in HP’s Personal Systems Group (PSG), in a statement.

The new lineup includes several commercial notebooks utilizing Sunnyvale, Calif.-based AMD’s VISION Pro technology and beginning at a $549 price point. HP also lifted the curtain on its ProBook 6450b/6550b series of commercial laptops based on Santa Clara, Calif.-based Intel’s latest vPro mobile platform.

HP introduced nine new commercial notebooks in all on Wednesday, most of which will be made available in June in the U.S. The HP ProBook 4425s will be made available in May.

The new HP notebooks, based on AMD mobile processors, make use of the chip maker’s Phenom II, Turion II, Athlon II and V-series chips, while graphics power is also supplied by AMD, via the company’s ATI Mobility Radeon HD products.
