The Wait Is Over: Apple iPad Delivery Delays Disappear

Apple's web site now indicates that iPad buyers will have an estimated shipping time of just 24 hours. That's a dramatic change from the roughly two weeks or more most iPad orders have taken to fulfill in the tablet's roughly five-month lifespan.

As of late July, Apple had sold more than 3.27 million iPads.

The 3G version of the Apple iPad was the hardest hit by the delays, which even forced Apple to push back the international launch of the iPad by a month in order for supply to catch up with demand.

Apple's swifter iPad shipping estimates come on the heels of a recent iSuppli report that indicates the iPad will help Apple maintain dominant share of the tablet market through at least 2012. iSuppli wrote that in 2010 the iPad will account for 74.1 percent of global tablet shipments and will still hold 70.4 percent share of the tablet market come 2011, and two-thirds of total shipments in 2012.

According to reports, Apple has rectified issues it had with iPad component suppliers, making it easier to fulfill iPad demand. Apple had struggled to acquire adequate components, mainly LCD screens, for the iPad.

And while Apple iPad buyers may have their mitts on the tablet faster, Apple is still facing hurdles when it comes to meeting demand for the Apple iPhone 4. The iPhone 4, like other hot smartphones released this summer, has faced lengthy shipping delays since its launch in June. Apple's web site estimates shipping time for a new iPhone 4 to be roughly three weeks.
